Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) has appointed
Edouard O’Neill as chief executive officer for the Hong Kong branch and head of structured finance for Asia.
Based in Hong Kong, he will report jointly to Michel Roy, senior regional officer for Asia-Pacific (Apac), and Jacques de Villaines, global head of structured finance.
O’Neill will lead the overall business development and strategy of the bank’s commercial franchise in Hong Kong and further develop the bank’s structured finance activities in Asia.
O’Neill joined Crédit Agricole CIB in 2015 as a managing director for corporate acquisition finance. He has been global head of acquisition finance advisory since 2019.

He added that going forward, the bank will push to shift the region s focus to renewable sources such as solar energy.
He said: Sustainability has gone mainstream. It is no longer a reversible trend, noting that governments have been rolling out sustainable development plans as part of their commitment after signing the Paris Agreement.
Asset managers are also hardening their stance on sustainability, giving funds to greener firms and even pulling back investments from others. Customers also want products that are sustainable such as green loans.

Singapore’s UOB has appointed Eric Lim as its first chief sustainability officer, Australia-based property group Lendlease has announced the appointment of Justin Gabbani as the group’s Asia CEO, while Knight Frank Asia-Pacific has appointed Christine Li as head of research, Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore.

United Overseas Bank has appointed Eric Lim as its first chief sustainability officer (CSO), according to an announcement.
In his new role, Lim will lead a dedicated corporate sustainability office which will focus on achieving the bank’s sustainability objectives of helping businesses advance responsibly, steering consumer wealth to sustainable investments, and fostering social inclusiveness and environmental well-being.
