Austin 360
A Black Panthers leader. A couple in love in midcentury America. A beauty queen who wants better for her daughter.
We recently asked an Austin expert for recommended movies to watch this Black History Month. Ya ke Smith is an associate professor of film at the University of Texas, as well as the Moody College of Communication s first associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion. He s also a celebrated filmmaker in his own right: Smith s debut feature, Wolf, premiered at South by Southwest in 2012, and shorts like Katrina s Son, Brother and dawn. have found audiences across the country.

The side of the orange-colored 22-foot cutter said it all: âUNMANNED VESSEL â STAY CLEAR.â
The prototype unmanned vessel was built for the U.S. Coast Guard by MetalCraft Marine US, a Kingston, Ontario-based company that moved last summer into a Watertown plant on Fisher Road in the Jefferson County Corporate Park.
âWhen you see that going along in the water, itâs something to see,â said Bob Clark, MetalCraftâs contract manager who works out of the companyâs Kingston manufacturing and design facility.
The autonomous vessel is one of a variety of high-powered aluminum patrol, fire and work boats that are built right here in Watertown.
