Kody Wagner, center, catches a Burbot as his friends Keaten Martin, right, and Jess Gutierrez Renteria assist him during the Ding-the-Ling Tournament on the Fontenelle Reservoir on Feb. 21. The annual weekend-long tournament is held as a way to help control the invasive fish species. âWhen you hear the bells that youâve got something, it just feels like Christmas morning,â Wagner said. FONTENELLE RESERVOIR â At 6:22 a.m., one of the rod tips at the feet of four Farson friends started quivering.
âHey, hey, Kody, Kody, Kody,â Jess Gutierrez Renteria told his pal. âGot a bite, bud.â
CHEYENNE Flaming Gorge boaters and recreationalists; the Wyoming Game and Fish Department needs your input. Game and Fish is finalizing a plan that will guide actions in the event that aquatic invasive species like zebra and quagga mussels are discovered at Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
If mussels are ever discovered at the Gorge, there will be changes that impact boaters and other recreationalists in an effort to prevent their further spread throughout Wyoming and the nation.
Game and Fish is asking anyone who boats, fishes or spends time enjoying the water at Flaming Gorge to take time to review the draft rapid response plan and provide input on the implementation through a short feedback form. Anyone can submit feedback until March 1.
2020-2021 has spawned a lot of new experiences for us all, one of which the simultaneous experience of wanderlust and hodophobia (yes, I just learned that word existed today). Luckily, road-tripping is the perfect antidote to that fear and longing for travel, since it allows you to mostly stay in your own space, but also get out of the four walls you’ve been staring at for nearly a year now. And particularly luckily for us Northern Coloradans, we have multiple out-of-state locations that are relatively close and well worth the drive.
So, if you’ve got a three-day weekend coming up and a hankering for travel, consider hitting up any of these adventurous spots to get away for a while.
