OLD SAYBROOK The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center presents Ted Vigil May 8, performing a John Denver tribute for two shows at 3 and 8 p.m
“Vigil’s resemblance to music icon John Denver, who died in 1997 when his experimental aircraft crashed into the Pacific Ocean, is uncanny,” theater officials said in a statement.
“Vigil, who has been performing since he was 10, as well as writing, recording and performing his original compositions, won a national Talent Quest title as John Denver in 2006. After winning a celebrity look-alike contest, he began planning his John Denver tribute show,” according to the statement.

OLD LYME Almost a year has passed since the death of George Floyd unleashed a new wave of racial unrest on the nation and, with more recent police shootings, the conversation about racial equity has continued in all levels of society.
In Old Lyme, though, there is some reticence to have that conversation as a town government. Since August, Selectwoman Mary Jo Nosal, a Democrat, has been trying to put a resolution on the Board of Selectmen’s agenda that would declare racism a public health crisis.
