Elmhurst University recently awarded its first President’s Scholarships for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, established this past fall to augment the University’s ongoing commitment to building a welcoming, inclusive community.
The scholarship winners are two incoming first-year students one from Chicago, the other from Las Vegas who have shown an exemplary commitment to furthering diversity, equity and inclusion in their own lives and the lives of others.
“It’s wonderful to see this scholarship already benefiting students,” said Elmhurst University President
Troy D. VanAken. “Even more gratifying is how quickly the entire campus community came together to bring it to life. I look forward to the contributions our first scholarship recipients will make here at Elmhurst.”

Elmhurst University has issued an all-clear alert, allowing students to return to normal activities, after reports of a man with a gun on the west suburban campus Wednesday afternoon.
No gunman was found and the university lifted the lockdown about 6 p.m, according to a statement from the university and the City of Elmhurst.
A gunman was reportedly seen near Niebuhr Hall, a student dormitory, about 3:30 p.m., the university announced online.
Students were asked to shelter in a locked room until officials declared the scene secure.
University public safety officials conducted a search of the campus but did not find a gunman, according to the statement.

ELMHURST - Elmhurst University was on lockdown Wednesday after a man with a gun was reported on the west suburban campus.
No gunman was found and the university lifted the lockdown about 6 p.m, according to a statement from the university and the City of Elmhurst.
A gunman was reportedly seen near Niebuhr Hall, a student dormitory, about 3:30 p.m., the university announced online.
The school had posted the following message to their website: Person with gun now reported near Niebuhr. Seek shelter in locked room. Remain in place until ALL CLEAR. Police on scene.

DULUTH, Minn. – Wednesday afternoon, Duluth Denfeld honored six seniors who put pen to paper on their college commitments. That group included Joe Udd, who signed his National Letter of Intent to join the St. Scholastica baseball team.
We also had a pair of swimmers who are heading to St. Thomas as Lindsay Johnson and Joe Rudd will be jumping in the pool for the Tommies, who are making the jump from Division III to Division I.
Other commits include Mary Johnson joining the Elmhurst University women’s soccer team, Isaac Fink heading to Augustana for cross country and track and Claire Barless signing her MLI to play soccer at Bates College in Maine.
