Riding The Range In Southern Alberta, Canada
Joseph hits the trail to Southern Alberta, Canada and follows the path of the province s settlement from the early days of the buffalo and the Blackfoot people to present-day ranchers and cowboys. His travels take him to Blackfoot Crossing Historical Park, Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park and Head-Smashed-In- Buffalo Jump, sacred and historic native sites, where he celebrates the rich heritage of the Blackfoot First Nations people through their history, dances, chants and songs. At the Lucasia Ranch he partakes of the area s cowboy culture when he saddles up and rides into the Alberta foothills in search of a few strays before sitting down with the Lucas family for a rousing ranch house dinner. His journey of history, culture and natural beauty ends aboard the M.V. International on a cruise across the Canada - U.S. border on Lake Waterton, part of the Waterton - Glacier International Peace Park.

With the surging interest in winter camping, equipment has become harder to find.
Wood-burning stoves and winter tents are in high demand, with retailers from local stores to Amazon struggling to keep them in stock.
Courtney McMahon, manager of Everest Outdoor Store in Jasper, said the craze over winter camping is part of a larger trend. The pandemic has more Albertans getting outside and exploring closer to home. Equipment has been flying off the shelves, McMahon said. Businesses are closed or kids are out of school for a little bit longer so there have been a lot of families coming in and a lot of people have been gearing up.

Chef Rodney Bowers, TV host and head of food media at Centennial College, and Meredith Shaw, a radio and TV host, have been together for more than three years. When the pandemic hit, they both adjusted to running their careers from home and helping Rodney’s kids, 10-year-old Abbey, and eight-year-old William, with e-learning. In September, while the kids’ schools were figuring out the virtual rollout, Rodney decided he would take the kids on a three-week educational cross-country road trip. Here’s how it went.
