(WECT) - Three schools in Wilmington were honored by the U.S. Department of Education on Thursday. According to a press release, D.C. Virgo Preparatory Academy and Wrightsville Beach Elementary School were both named Green Ribbon Schools while UNC-Wilmington was recognized as a Postsecondary Sustainability Awardee. These honors were part of the Education Department’s Green Ribbon Schools program, which recognizes schools, districts, and colleges/universities for “their innovative efforts to reduce environmental impact and utility costs, improve health and wellness, and ensure effective sustainability education.”

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK Looking for a job or internship in high tech? There’s plenty of demand in the Triangle and across the state. One example of the increasing demand for high tech workers?  Take the more than 1,000 positions that are available at companies participating in Wednesday’s virtual tech job expo presented by the North Carolina Technology Association. The virtual expo event, held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., features virtual booths with more 20 employers like Allscripts, Ally, Channel Advisor, Deutsche Bank, Dude Solutions, Google, insightsoftware, LexisNexis, First Citizens Bank, Toshiba Global Commerce, Wake Technical Community College, and more.
