The idea of applying the same coronavirus restrictions when there are only eight cases a day as were in place at the height of the pandemic is "intellectually confounding," according to the IPA's Evan Mulholland. Mr Mulholland praised the New South Wales government's response to its recent outbreak, and its pursuit of suppression rather than a elimination strategy. NSW recorded 11 new cases, three of which are from overseas travellers who are in hotel quarantine, and eight are locally-acquired. "They're (NSW) actually the only state in the country that are following the National Cabinet policy of suppression rather than elimination," Mr Mulholland said.
