Another overnight parking ban on snow routes

Evanston Now Only about half of snow routes plowed to the curb so far, city says. That prohibits parking on main thoroughfares marked snow routes from 11 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Emergency sirens will sound at 8:15 p.m. tonight to remind residents of the Snow Route Parking Ban. Daytime snow emergency parking restrictions on side streets will remain in effect today and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Don’t park on the side of the street with even-numbered addresses today. And don’t park on the odd-numbered side Wednesday. . Most streets with parking on one side only now have permanent “ODD date” or “EVEN date” signs that allow them to be plowed during Snow Emergencies. Please follow the posted signage.

District 65 holds forum to discuss reopening

Evanston/Skokie School District 65 administration and healthcare professionals expressed confidence the district could reopen schools safely at a virtual forum Thursday. The district held the webinar for staff, parents and community members to discuss the logistics of its hybrid learning model, set to launch Feb. 16.  Superintendent Devon Horton said the district will prioritize the health and safety of students and staff and community members as schools reopen. He said while doctors and other healthcare professionals provided the district with advice regarding reopening, the decision to launch hybrid learning came from the school board, administration and himself.  “They were thought partners and gave us the research and the knowledge that we need in order to open our doors,” Horton said.

(Shutterstock) EVANSTON, IL Administrators and teaching staff in Evanston/Skokie School District 65 have come to an agreement over a reopening plan, district officials announced. Superintendent Devon Horton said the district had reached an agreement with the District 65 Educators Council, or DEC, after 23 bargaining sessions. It was grueling and tiresome, but together they stayed, Horton said at Monday s board meeting. It wasn t always an easy process, but they grinded it out and came up with a really good plan.
