The Duluth man who was arrested Thursday for the alleged murder of a 3-year-old child has been charged with second-degree murder.
The arrest of Jordan William Carter, 30, took place more than three months after the child died Sept. 6.
Due the nature of the child s injuries, the Duluth Police Department began an investigation. On Dec. 15, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner s Office ruled the death a homicide by blunt force trauma to the head and neck, the criminal complaint said.

Essentia Health Administers First COVID-19 Vaccines in Duluth
After nine long months into the COVID-19 pandemic, Essentia Health administered the first COVID-19 vaccine in Duluth on Thursday afternoon.
Essentia Health says that about 120 of their front-line workers, those directly involved in caring for COVID-positive patients, were vaccinated Thursday against a virus that has claimed the lives of more than 300,000 Americans.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which received emergency-use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration on December 10, requires two doses 21 days apart to be fully effective. Essentia Health in Duluth received its initial shipment of 975 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine earlier this week.

Samantha Moder, an intensive care registered nurse, on Friday became St. Luke s first front-line worker to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. This is a little vial of hope, Moder said, pointing to the Pfizer vaccine. We re all excited. The majority of us cannot wait.
Essentia Health in Duluth Receives First Doses of COVID-19 Vaccine

DULUTH, Minn.-Essentia Health in Duluth has announced they have received their first allocation of COVID-19 vaccines.
A spokesperson for the group tells us they have received almost 1,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, with more expected to come later this week.
The current plans are to begin vaccinating employees Thursday.
Essentia leadership says they hope to get more shipments of the vaccine every two weeks at the minimum, which will be distributed to various hubs around the region.
A spokesperson for St. Luke’s, citing safety concerns, would not share information about when their vaccines arrive.
