The museums stand out for their innovation and role models for other European museums.
Marlen Mouliou, chairman of the EMYA 2021 Jury, called the renovation of the Haapsalu Castle a model for the preservation of the monument, an example of 21st-century restoration work, with absolute respect for the historic building and ingenious modern design. She emphasized that Haapsalu can be considered a destination for enjoying history and culture.
Estonian museums have repeatedly performed well at the European Museum of the Year awards. The Estonian National Museum received a special prize at the EMYA 2018 competition, the Kenneth Hudson Prize, the Seaplane Harbour received recognition at the EMYA 2014 competition and the Kumu Art Museum received great recognition in 2008, winning the title of European Museum 2008 (EMYA 2008).
Tartu’s business event sTARTUp Day to feature world-class participants

The annual business event, sTARTUp Day, is to take place in a hybrid form from 25-27 August 2021 in the town of Tartu and it’s going to feature world-class participants sharing their experiences on four stages.
According to the organisers, the festival brings to the stage over a hundred speakers during the two festival days and one side event day.
“On 25-27 of August, the Estonian National Museum in Tartu will become a meeting place for all the startup-minded people, with world-class performers sharing their experiences on four stages, dozens of practical seminars, sTARTUp Pitching Powered by EstBAN and many side events,” the organisers said in a statement.
Russian delegations, Putin could still attend the Finno-Ugric World Congress in Estonia

Tõnu Seilenthal, a member of the Consultative Committee of Finno-Ugric Peoples, the coordinating body of the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples, due to take place this summer in Tartu, Estonia, says in an interview with Estonian World that even if the Russian Federation creates an “iron curtain”, the results of the cooperation so far will still support the vitality and continuity of the Finno-Ugric peoples of Russia; Seilenthal does not yet rule out that representatives of the Russia’s Finno-Ugric community – and even president Vladimir Putin – will still attend the congress.

The Riigikogu s cultural affairs committee decided to forward four cultural objects of national importance to the Riigikogu: the Narva Kreenholm Cultural Manufacturing Quarter, the extension of the current National Opera Building, the Arvo Pärt Music Hall and the Tartu Cultural Centre in the Heart of the City (Süku).
Committee chairman Aadu Must said the committee s proposal will move forward to the Riigikogu, where a final decision will be made regarding the ranking of the objects and which ones need to be developed or restored in the coming years. The objects will receive funding from the Cultural Enowment of Estonia (Kultuurkapital).
A traveling Estonian National Museum (ERM) exhibition has been held at a customs point in Kingissepp, east of Narva, for some time now and the lack of a single stamp could lead to the whole shipment to be destroyed, said ERM director Alar Karis.
