TALLINN - Thursday marks the start of the thematic Arctic Month, which aims to engage the Estonian public with various topics related to the Arctic; over the course of one month, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinates and cooperates with partners and other state institutions to launch a series of Arctic-themed events and articles as part of Estonia’s bid to become an observer on the Arctic Council. Developments in the Arctic should be a concern for everyone, as the climate change there affects the whole world, Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets said.
On Wednesday, the inter-agency COVID-19 working group of Estonia and Finland met to discuss options for restoring work migration between the two countries in light of additional measures introduced by Finland.
The updated border measures are in force from January 27 to February 25 to stop the spread of COVID-19. We understand that Finland s decisions are based on public health considerations and taken in view of the need to stop the spread of the virus, including its new strain. TALLINN - The foreign ministers of the Baltic countries and France issued a joint statement on Wednesday in which they affirm their countries wish to coordinate the vaccination and border control policy related to the pandemic among EU member states.
At the meeting of the Baltic ministers with the foreign minister of France in Paris, Estonia was represented by Mart Volmer, deputy secretary general of the Estonian Foreign Ministry for European affairs, spokespeople for the Estonian ministry said.
In the joint statement adopted at the meeting, the ministers affirmed their wish for the vaccination and border control policy related to the pandemic to be coordinated among EU member states. They also welcomed progress on the EU recovery plan and affirmed the importance of defense cooperation and transatlantic relations.
