Bulgarian tourist tests positive for COVID-19 in Aqaba
A Bulgarian tourist tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Aqaba, according to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).
According to ASEZA, the tourist had tested negative for COVID-19 before travelling to the Kingdom. However, she tested positive for COVID-19 after conducting a PCR test at the King Hussein International Airport.
The tourist has been self-isolating along with one other person, in compliance with health protocols, added ASEZA.
ASEZA, in cooperation with the competent authorities, has adopted a set of protective measures against COVID-19.

AMMAN Jordan’s first marine reserve will play a major role in further attracting tourists and diving enthusiasts to the Red Sea city and preserve Aqaba’s “unique” coral reefs, experts and officials told The Jordan Times.

AMMAN, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) Jordan on Sunday announced its first marine reserve in the Red Sea port city of Aqaba with the object of preserving coral reefs and marine ecosystems as well as promoting sustainable development.
The cabinet has recently approved the declaration of the reserve, which is also hoped to promote tourism and underwater activities in the southern city, according to a statement by the Environment Ministry published by the state-run Petra news agency.
The ministry described the declaration as a national achievement that will help Jordan honor its international commitments, namely the UN Convention on Biological Diversity.
