One Nnenna Egwuagu, 29, has been arrested by the Enugu State Police Command, for allegedly administering a harmful substance on her 3-year-old stepson, Wisdom Egwuagu.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, the incident happened on April 9 at about 10.00 p.m, NAN reports.
Ndukwe said that the suspect’s husband and father of the deceased child, one Justine Egwuagu, reported the incident to the Police.
He explained that the suspect said she committed the act due to her husband’s inability to take care of her and their daughter.
“Preliminary investigation shows that the suspect confessed to having administered the substance, suspected to be sniper insecticide, on the child.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, said it arrested a music producer, Imeh Henshaw Nyong and four others for alleged internet fraud in Uyo.
According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Wilson Uwujaren, Nyong was arrested alongside Benjamin Ikpeme, Godwin Isong, Magnus Chimaobi and Victor Usun.
Uwujaren said the suspects were apprehended during an early morning raid at two locations in the state, after the receipt of credible information on their alleged involvement in cybercrime.
He also gave the items recovered from the suspects to include; one black Lexus E350, one HP laptop, one Canon 16 and Tecno Phone

The Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday.
Haruna said the incident occurred on April 7, at Sharifai Quarters of Ugogo Local Government Area.
A complaint from Sharifa Quarters said that on the same date, the suspect stabbed Sani of the same address on his stomach with a knife.
The victim was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano. He was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on April 10.
The spokesman added that the suspect had a misunderstanding with the deceased.
The Commissioner of Police, Sama’ila Dikko, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Homicide Section.

The Enugu State Police Command has confirmed Tuesday’s attack on Ogboro-Eke-Abugu Village, Ibagwa-Ani in Nsukka.
The Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the gunmen killed one James Ugwu.
The assailants also attacked Ugwu’s wife and another person before fleeing the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Aliyu, had directed an investigation to uncover the mastermind.
Aliyu advised the people to remain calm, assist the police and avoid causing a breach of peace.
An eyewitness disclosed that the attackers stormed the village around 9pm.
The source said the bandits shot Ugwu dead in his house, shot his wife on the leg and another person in the stomach while escaping.
