Vientiane (VNA) – A ceremony was held in Vientiane
capital of Laos on April 29 to hand over and repatriate three sets of remains
of Vietnam’s volunteer soldiers and experts who laid down their lives while
performing the international duties in Laos.
The event was attended by Maj. Gen. Siphone Chansomevong,
Political Commissar of the Vientiane capital Military Command; Sen. Lt. Col. Ha
Duc Hung, head of Ha Tinh province’s team for searching remains of Vietnam’s
volunteer soldiers and experts; and Lao officials.

Vietnam always stands side by side with India in the fight against COVID-19, the Vietnamese leaders affirmed on April 28.
In their messages of sympathy sent to their Indian counterparts Ram Nath Kovind and Narendra Modi, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said they share difficulties faced by the Indian people in the fierce battle against COVID-19 in the context that the pandemic is developing complicatedly around the world.

Dry and sunny weather in daytime will blanket the whole of Vietnam during Reunification Day on April 30 and International Workers Day on May 1, with rainstorms forecast to hit each evening, according to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting.
Northern localities should expect daytime sun from April 30 until May 3, with northwestern provinces likely to experience rainstorms during the evening and night.
On May 1 and 2, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the evening in northern Vietnam, carrying whirlwinds, lightning, and strong gusts.
