Area health departments released updated coronavirus numbers Thursday. The Laurel County Health Department reported 71 new cases bringing the total to 4,996. The Lake Cumberland District Health Department reported three deaths in Pulaski County. This brings the county’s death toll to 72. The county also reported 35 new cases. The Whitley County Health Department reported 29 new cases. The Knox County Health Department reported 19 new cases. The Cumberland Valley District Health Department reported the 24th death in Clay County. The county also reported 9 new cases. Jackson County has 3 new cases and Rockcastle County 1 new case.

Both Pulaski County and the district have seen a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases over the past couple of weeks. The final data point is the current total for this week.
The area is seeing fewer reports of new COVID-19 cases, but the officials at the Lake Cumberland District Health Department (LCDHD) are not resting. They continue to monitor the rollout of the vaccine, and stated that part of the school staff within Pulaski will be a part of next weekâs vaccination efforts.
