Fifteen people from the Lakes District Health Board area have laid on the operating table in the past three years for bariatric surgery. Skudder was not one of them. However, she did have a gastric band of some sorts put on - through hypnosis.

Well Child Tamariki Ora service provider Manaaki Ora Tipu Ora is being funded to deliver culturally appropriate, whānau-based care. Up to 40 whānau will each be assigned a kaitiaki or key worker who may be a child health nurse or social worker, backed by a multidisciplinary team. The support can include health care, mental health support, help to access social services, housing or education, or helping whānau learn more about parenting and child development.

The service feeds up to 200 homeless people daily from 5pm and sees those in need go to a drop-off point and collect a container of food cooked or collected by a local trust.
