The US intends to send a message of goodwill to Iran, caution to Israel, expert says
The Wall Street Journal reported last Thursday that Israel had attacked at least a dozen Iranian ships since 2019. On Saturday, Iranian sources blamed Israel for an explosion last week that rocked an Iranian ship in the Eastern Mediterranean. This follows an on an Israeli-owned ship, which Israel blamed on Iran. Neither country wants a direct confrontation, experts explain, but the lack of a decisive response by Israel may lead to escalation.

(The Media Line) Israelâs Environmental Protection Minister Gila Gamliel has pointed a finger at Iran, blaming the Islamic Republic for last monthâs oil spill that polluted Israelâs shoreline, causing an ecological disaster. The ministry on Thursday released new information tracking the course of the alleged culprit. But defense officials werenât part of the investigation, and some have disputed the claim.
On Wednesday, Gamliel blamed Iran for the crude oil spill that brought large amounts of tar to Israelâs Mediterranean coast. A ministry statement said that the culprit had been identified as the crude oil tanker Emerald, âa Libyan-owned ship that was carrying cargo from Iran to Syria.â The statement quoted the minister as saying that
