Vermonters on social media reported hearing a loud noise some said it sounded like gunfire at a shooting range, others said it sounded like the crashing of vehicles; many said their house shook.  Nearly 450 people commented on a Facebook post from NASA Meteor Watch, many of whom had their own eye witness encounter. Information from the site said the meteor passed 52 miles above Mount Mansfield State Forest at 5:38 p.m. Sunday. It traveled 33 miles over Vermont at an estimated speed of 47,000 miles per hour before it ultimately burned up over Beach Hill in Orleans County.
