Norma Jean Huss

Norma Jean Huss, 91, of Willow Street, Pa., passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at the Willow Valley Communities healthcare facility, after an illness. Born in Missouri, Norma moved with her family at age five to the state of Washington. She grew up on her family s farm near Acme and graduated from Mount Baker High School in 1948. As a young woman, Norma attended the secretarial school at Central Washington College. She secured gainful employment as a secretary in the Contracts division for Scraps and Disposals at Boeing Airplane Company. There, her most interesting assignment was to take notes for the meetings between Boeing executives and the Air Force to plan the disposal of the tooling for the discontinued legendary World War II era bomber, the B29 Superfortress.

Born in Cranbrook, B.C., Terrill attended Mount Baker High School before attending the Marvel Beauty School in Trail, B.C. She married Joseph MacDonald in 1958 and began raising their family. Her cooking skills were second to none as several Columbia Valley fine dining restaurants that employed her as a chef, will attest. Terrill had most fun while working the bar at the Columbia Inn back in the day. When not employed, she worked side by side with her husband, setting up the tipi camp for the horse logging operation. Posted: March 5, 2021 Obituary of Donald Pierre Rivers 1944 – 2021   It is with great sadness that the family of Don Rivers announces his passing on February 23, 2021 in Cranbrook, B.C. Don was born in Vancouver on November 21, 1944 and spent his early childhood between Sooke and Salmon Arm. He moved to Nelson when he was eleven and grew up with the mountains and lakes around him. After graduating L.V. Rogers Secondary School, he first attended UBC, then graduated University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree along with his professional certificate of teaching. Don then completed a Master of Education in Teaching in 1981. Don began his teaching career in Cranbrook where he met his wife, Candy and here they raised their family. Photo courtesy Teigen Detta Mount Baker Senior Teigen Detta Chooses Southern Illinois University To Continue Her Swimming Career Years of rising early to train, and then clocking even more pool time in the evenings has earned Teigen Detta a spot on the Southern Illinois University swim team.  The Mount Baker High School senior has worked hard in the pool from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the last five years. She’s also mixed in shorty swims and weight training to ensure she did all she could to reach the next level.
