Last month, the Biden administration announced its decision to withdraw military aid for offensive military operations led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen. This choice reverses a policy started by the Obama administration and bolstered by the Trump administration. Timothy Lenderking was appointed special envoy to Yemen after the announcement.

When the Chevy Chase Land Company started developing land north of Rock Creek Park in 1890, it built a streetcar to connect to Washington, DC. That streetcar line ended at Chevy Chase Lake on Connecticut Avenue, just south of the Georgetown Branch, where a small building on the west side served as a waiting station and office.
American strategists were caught off-guard when Japan chose war and suicide.
Here s What You Need to Know: The lessons of the run-up to World War II provide a cautionary example for U.S.-Iranian relations today.
Why did the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor?
Most Americans don’t remember. Those who do probably recall the explanation taught in high school: the militaristic Japanese government planned to take over the Pacific, realized that the fleet at Pearl Harbor represented a major obstacle to that goal, and incorrectly predicted that the United States would not have the stomach to fight a protracted conflict. This mistaken assumption led to a four-year war in which two million Japanese lost their lives and much of the country was reduced to rubble.

Geoeconomics and economic statecraft are expressions that are frequently heard. Both terms have almost the same meaning, that is, to use economic and technological power to coerce other countries to exhibit friendly behaviors or refrain from hostile activities. Thus, economic statecraft, which includes financial sanctions, has been dubbed “war by other means.”
For Japan, and many other countries, it would be preferable to counter China and alter its behavior without military action. The United States and Japan, allies of advanced economies, appear to have agile statecraft capabilities.
However, living in the age of geoeconomics or economic statecraft, we should keep in mind the negative impacts. Japan needs to be cautious to avoid becoming trapped in an economic statecraft battle between the United States and China.
THE FEDERAL APPELLATE COURTS
The U.S. Court of Appeals
On November 23, 2020, the court, in a 2-to-1 vote, rejected the plaintiff’s request for an emergency injunction pending appeal in the case of
Manzanita Band of Kumeyaay Nation, et al. v. Wolf. The majority held the requirement for such relief did not meet the requirements set forth in
Winter v. NRDC, 555 US 7 (2008). Here, the plaintiffs allege that that the government’s construction of a border wall violates several environmental laws that were illegally waived by the Secretary of the Interior. Judge Millett dissented in part because the plaintiffs demonstrated a likelihood of success on the merits. She pointed to the argument that the authority of the Secretary or Acting Secretary to take these actions has been successfully challenged in several federal district courts. An expedited pleading schedule was established by the court.
