Celebrate Sunday Mass - Seventh Sunday of Easter

Celebrate Sunday Mass - Seventh Sunday of Easter - 5.16.21 Dear Catholic Online Community and Catholic Online School students. I AM HAPPY TO OFFER EACH OF YOU AN INVITATION TO HOLY MASS ON THE SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER in the Catholic Diocese of Tyler. The response to offering these liturgies online has been overwhelming.  The readings, as always, offer so much for us to reflect on. It is helpful to pray through them and reflect upon them before we assist at Holy Mass.  In some places in the Catholic World, the Feast of the Ascension is transferred from Thursday to Sunday. We heard the readings for the Seventh Sunday of Easter because we offered the readings from Ascension on the traditional Ascension Thursday.

Ascension 2021 | Liturgy

May 12, 2021 | liturgy | Let us pray (in silence) [that we may consciously live in the presence of the Risen Christ] pause that we, who believe your only-begotten Son, [only-begotten One] our redeemer, may also in heart and mind there continually dwell; through Jesus Christ in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The above is my reworking for my Book of Prayers in Common in which I seek to provide a set of collects with history and commentary. Christians have been praying the above prayer on the Feast of the Ascension for over 12 centuries – shared through the Reformation into the Roman Missal and Books of Common Prayer. Surprisingly, it was removed from Roman Catholic rites in 1970, but then restored again in 2002.

and direct our hearts through Jesus Christ in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. The above is my reworking for my Book of Prayers in Common in which I seek to provide a set of collects with history and commentary. Christians have been praying this collect, on the equivalent of the Seventh Sunday of Easter for at least 12 centuries. It has not been used much in post-Reformation churches, and after Vatican II it was moved to the Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time in the Roman Rite. But it still fits fine in its historic position.
