As the devoted husband and consort to Her Majesty The Queen, the marriage of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness formed a foundation of leadership of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth for nearly eight decades. On the occasion of the Queen s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, Her Majesty referred to His Royal Highness as her constant strength and guide. His Royal Highness will be remembered fondly by British Columbians for his devotion to Queen and country, his duties as Royal Patron, and his ever-keen interest in the lives and work of Canadians. On behalf of all British Columbians, I wish to once more extend my heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty The Queen, the entire Royal Family, and all citizens of the Commonwealth, on the loss of this steadfast companion and most loyal Prince.

VICTORIA The B.C. government is expanding its grant program for businesses moving into online sales by pouring more money into the program and extending it to include the service industry. Premier John Horgan announced Wednesday that the program would also give special consideration to businesses owned by British Columbians who are Black, Indigenous and people of colour (BIPOC). The province announced its Launch Online grant program last month with $12 million in grants available for small- and medium-sized businesses in B.C. On Wednesday, Horgan said that demand for the initial $7,500 grants quickly surpassed the 1,500 grants available. The province is now adding $30 million to the program, which is designed to help businesses create online shops and improve e-commerce experiences for customers.

Speaking to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade during a virtual meeting on Tuesday, Economic Recovery Minister Ravi Kahlon said he’s confident changes to the grant program in December have made it easier for more businesses to apply. However, he did not give a direct answer to a question from Board CEO Bridgitte Anderson about whether the end-of-March deadline would be extended.
