An Indian diplomat named Gaurav Ahluwalia was summoned by Pakistan after a United Nations Military Observers (UNMO) vehicle was targeted in the country s Chirikot sector along the Line of Control (LoC).
The Indian diplomat was summoned to the Foreign Office (FO) here a day after the Pakistan Army accused the Indian Army of deliberately targeting the UNMO, an allegation dismissed by India as completely false, baseless and factually incorrect.
The FO said that the UN Observers were on their way to Polas village to meet with the victims of ceasefire violations when their vehicle was targeted.

UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations has confirmed that a vehicle of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) was hit by an “unidentified object” near Rawalakot on the Pakistani side of Line of Control (LoC), but the occupants were not injured.
“The mission is currently investigating the incident,” Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said in response to a question from APP at the regular briefing in New York. He said the incident occurred when UNMOGIP military observers were conducting routine monitoring activities near Rawalakot as part of the Mission’s mandate to observe and report on ceasefire violations at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistan lodged a strong protest at the deliberate targeting of Observers belonging to UNMOGIP. It was conveyed that the reprehensible act also represented a new low in the conduct of Indian occupation forces which target not only innocent civilians residing along the LoC but United Nations Observers as well,” said the Foreign Office.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that India s deliberate firing at the Line of Control (LoC) on a United Nations vehicle shows the country s total disregard for all international norms of acceptable state behaviour, adding that Pakistan strongly condemns India s rogue behaviour.
