ITFC Partners with UNIDO to support Egypt s cotton sector and Sudan s dairy sector

JEDDAH/VIENNA, 2 June 2021 – The International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IsDB) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) today held a high-level bilateral meeting to highlight two project agreements in a virtual kick-off ceremony with Eng. Hani Salem Sonbol, CEO of ITFC and LI Yong, Director General of UNIDO. Following the ceremony, the ongoing strategic partnership between the two entities was further discussed.

China s growing influence on UN; Time to call China out?

The concern of China playing a much active role in the UN and its specialized agencies which were previously undermined is now being challenged. According to a new study conducted by Gateway House, China’s voluntary donations have been increased, from $51 million in 2010 to $172 million in 2019, a 346 per cent rise in nine to many international agencies. The report also suggests that China is present either as the head or a deputy position in almost all the critical international agencies.
