US Defence Secretary Austin spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and emphasized US commitment to helping the kingdom in defending its territory.
It was also announced that Gantz would meet separately with US National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan.
Thursday s meeting will be the second between Austin and Gantz in less than two months. Austin visited Israel in April, when his discussions focused on the talks with Iran, which had just begun, on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which is a key goal of the Biden administration.
In addition to discussing Iran, Gantz will also ask for support in restocking Iron Dome Israel s air defense system, which is depleted after protecting the country, while Hamas rained over 4,000 missiles on Israeli cities in the 11-day war last month.

The Army on Tuesday evening said it is not investigating recent comments by retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn that seemed to endorse a Myanmar-style coup in the United States.
Flynn, who briefly served as former President Donald Trump s national security adviser, made his comments Sunday while on stage at a For God & Country Patriot Roundup conference in Dallas. The event was attended by adherents of the QAnon conspiracy theory and many who support the unfounded belief that the presidential election was stolen from Trump.

The Pentagon on Tuesday did not deny a recent Taiwanese news media report that United States special operations forces (SOF) are headed to Taiwan to help train their counterparts.
Asked by Breitbart News to confirm the report by Taiwan News, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, “I don’t have anything to comment on that press report. The only thing I would add is, and we’ve said this before, we take our responsibility seriously to help Taiwan defend itself in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act.”
Taiwan News reported that the Taiwanese defense minister said “multiple U.S. special forces units” will arrive in the country to train with their Taiwanese counterparts following the Han Kuang 37 military exercise.
