Wicked Local Samuel Adams EASTHAM  A document found in the archive room at Eastham Historical Society’s Schoolhouse Museum appears to contain the signature of Samuel Adams. The piece of paper was an official recognition of the appointment of Elijah Knowles as Justice of the Peace in Barnstable County. It is dated June 7, 1785. An article about the discovery was published earlier this week in the Cape Cod Times and noted that Adams was a pivotal figure in both Massachusetts and national history. A delegate to the First Continental Congress in 1774, he signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. In 1781, he was appointed lieutenant governor of Massachusetts, and became governor in 1789.

Princeton Review Recognizes UMass Amherst for Excellence in Graduate Entrepreneurship Studies

Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship Ranks No. 40 Nationally December 18, 2020 AMHERST, Mass. – For the first time, UMass Amherst has earned recognition in Princeton Review’s annual selection of Best Graduate Entrepreneurship Programs. In the publication’s 2021 list, the university ranks 40th among 50 colleges and universities. Based on survey data from more than 300 schools, the rankings encompass a broad brush of entrepreneurial activities inside and outside the classroom. The catalyst for student entrepreneurship at UMass Amherst is the Berthiaume Center for Entrepreneurship. Charlie Baker’s Western Massachusetts Office in Springfield, effective Jan. 4, 2021. Delgado has served since 2017 as director of Government Affairs at MGM Springfield and in recent months was the nearly $1-billion facility’s only on-site media contact through the pandemic. He takes over for outgoing director Outgoing Director Patrick Carnevale, a former emergency management official from Pittsfield, who took the job in 2018. Before him, it’d been held since 2016 by former state Sen. Mike Knapik of Westfield who left to work for Baystate Health.
