Gusting winds and drifted snow made for difficult conditions on both roads and lakes Sunday, Feb. 24.
With wind speeds measured at 40 mph at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport over the weekend, many resorts on Mille Lacs Lake advised ice anglers to leave the lake early in the day Sunday to avoid hazardous conditions, though not everyone did so.
The 20-year-old woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

MCGREGOR TWP A Minneapolis woman was injured when her vehicle went into the ditch Saturday, Jan. 9, in McGregor Township.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported Samara Nicole Palo, 20, was driving northbound on Highway 65 at Highway 210 just before 3:30 a.m. in her 2003 Honda CRV, when the vehicle traveled through the intersection and came to rest in a ditch.
Palo was transported to Riverwood Hospital in Aitkin via McGregor Ambulance, where she was treated for minor, non-life-threatening injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to the state patrol.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.

HILL CITY, Minn. Authorities have identified the contractor who died at a construction yard in Aitkin County associated with the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline project as Jorge Lopez Villafuerte.
Villafuerte, 45, of Utah, was run over by a forklift in the early morning of Dec. 18. He left behind nine children in Utah between ages 5 and 21, according to his obituary. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico. A hard-working man, he did everything he could to provide for his children, the obituary said. Though often out of town for work, he loved to spend time with them and was always eager to brag about his kids to anyone willing to listen.
