The Vehicle and Assets Dealers Union of Ghana (VADUG) says it has given the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) up to Wednesday, January 13, 2021, to issue new Defective Vehicle (DV) number plates for 2021 to car dealers or risk lawsuits.
The DV plate is normally given to owners of new and unregistered vehicles and are not meant for permanent use.
According to VADUG, the delays in the issuance of the new DV plates for 2021 is causing so much harm to players in the car business in the country.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Saturday, January 9, 2021, the Chairman of VADUG Bernard Ntrakwah said many car dealers are unable to move their cars outside their garages to meet prospective buyers at long distances because of the lack of insurance for the cars, occasioned also by the absence of 2021 DV plates.

JURISDICTION OF THE STATE HIGH COURTS ON TAX MATTERS
Introduction
By section 272 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic
of Nigeria (as amended), state high courts have wide jurisdiction
over civil and criminal matters.
2 Evidently in line with this
provision, it is quite common for disputes pertaining either to
taxes regarded as state taxes or taxes accruing to the
revenue of a state government, to be brought before state high
courts for determination.

Regional party miffed with alleged blocking of an independent candidate backed by it in recent panchayat body polls Two weeks after severing ties with the Congress, the Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) on Wednesday announced withdrawal of support to the ruling party in Rajasthan over the issue of the latter allegedly blocking the election of a BTP-backed independent candidate to the post of Zila Pramukh in Dungarpur during the recent panchayat body polls.
