The health department said the five employees will be responsible for administering the vaccine to others.
ICPHD received 975 doses of the vaccine this week. Distribution of the new vaccine, which was granted federal emergency use authorization Dec. 11, will first go to persons who fall within Phase 1A of the California Department of Public Healthâs allocation guidelines. These include high-risk workers in healthcare facilities, first responders and patients and staff of long-term care facilities.
El Centro Regional Medical Center will begin vaccinating workers on Monday, the hospital announced.
Recipients of the vaccine will be administered a second dose after 21 days.
