The Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office is collecting gifts for people living in long-term care facilities in the parish.
IPSO deputies put on the donation drive and will divide the gifts among the five facilities located in Iberia Parish.
Sheriff Tommy Romero says their office has been aware of the loneliness felt by so many residents over the past nine months and felt it was their duty to share the Christmas spirit. A lot of these people who are shut in the nursing homes have no one, no visitors, explained Romero. So we wanted to extended that out to the sheriff s office, and we felt that maybe we could offer it to the public as well to participate.
Two Arrested in Fatal Shooting in Iberia Parish
19-year-old Liam McDuff is dead and two people have been arrested following a shooting on Sunday in the 3100 block of Sugar Oaks Road in Iberia Parish.
In a press release, detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office say a 15-year-old male juvenile has been charged with Second Degree Murder and 18-year-old Richard Perez has been charged with Accessory After the Fact Second Degree Murder and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
Authorities say McDuff died in the hospital from a single gunshot wound.
It has been a joint investigation as the Louisiana Attorney General s Office, the 16th Judicial District Attorney s Office, Louisiana State Police, New Iberia Police, Vermilion Parish Sheriff s Department and Abbeville Police have assisted in the case, which continues with the possibility of additional charges.

IBERIA PARISH, La. - Two arrests have been made in the shooting death of 19-year-old Liam McDuff.
On Sunday, December 13, deputies with the Iberia Parish Sheriff s Office responded to a shooting in the 3100 block of Sugar Mill Road, according to Katherine Breaux, IPSO Public Affairs Director. Upon arrival, deputies located McDuff, suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Iberia Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Detectives with the Iberia Parish Sheriffâs Office Bureau of Investigations responded to the scene and began their investigation, Breaux stated. Detectives conducted interviews with numerous eyewitnesses and collected evidence. Detectives secured arrest warrants for the following individuals. Their charges are as follows:
