Neither Britain nor the IRA wants the truth to come out about the Troubles, Irish PM Micheal Martin said today.
The Taoiseach said there were vested interests in both that did not want the full picture of infiltration by intelligence agents known.
The comments came as Mr Martin stepped up separate calls for the UK to hold an inquiry into the murder of Pat Finucane.
Mr Finucane, 39, who represented republican and loyalist paramilitaries during the conflict, was shot dead in his family home in north Belfast in February 1989 by the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) in an attack found to have involved collusion with the state.

Administrations in London and Belfast are in dispute over who will pay the estimated £800 million cost of financial support for those most badly-injured during the decades of violence.

She walked 95 miles last July for Macmillan Cancer Support, raising more than £20,000 in time for her 95th birthday.
Maureen later received a Points of Light award from Boris Johnson for her efforts.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph last night, she said: Although I never got to speak to Captain Tom, it was like a message came to me from him when I watched what he was doing. I knew that I had to do something similar, even though my family kept saying I couldn t. It s so very sad that Captain Tom lived to that age and then contracted the virus when he worked so hard in the fight against it.

(Alliance News) - The UK government has warned the EU it is considering action after the bloc imposed export controls on coronavirus vaccines and impinged on the post-Brexit deal on Northern Ireland.
Cabinet Office Minister Michael Gove spoke to the EU on Friday to express concern at its triggering of an aspect of the Northern Ireland Protocol to stop the unimpeded flow of jabs from the bloc into the region.
Downing Street warned the EU as a friend and ally not to disrupt the supply of vaccines, as the bloc took the surprise step while embroiled in a row with pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca PLC over shortfalls in the delivery of jabs.
