We are delighted to host this seminar with Dr Sinead Walsh, Climate Envoy and Deputy DG for Irish Aid and Africa, to speak about Ireland’s role on the International climate agenda at the Security Council and beyond.
Dr Sinead Walsh is Ireland’s Climate Envoy since 2020. Prior to this she served as the EU Ambassador to South Sudan. She has worked for Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs since 2009. She was a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative in 2016/17. Prior to this, she served as the Ambassador of Ireland to Sierra Leone and Liberia and the Head of Irish Aid in the two countries, based in Freetown from 2011 to 2016. She has also worked in DFA HQ roles on multi-lateral organisations, international financial institutions and civil society engagement.
U.S. tourists could return to Ireland by July

Simon Coveney, Ireland s Minister for Foreign Affairs, has said that a decision may be announced next week on allowing vaccinated U.S. tourists to return to Ireland this summer
Coveney added that those Americans entering Ireland will most likely need to prove they have received the Covid vaccination
Coveney added that the European Commission is expected to have a green certification system in place for international travel within the EU bloc by mid-June
DUBLIN, Ireland: Simon Coveney, Ireland s Minister for Foreign Affairs, has said that a decision may be announced next week on allowing vaccinated U.S. tourists to return to Ireland this summer.

Currently, the U.S. does not qualify under EU guidelines for travel access (no more than 25 new coronavirus cases per 100,000 people within the previous 14 days). EU officials are expected to settle on a limit of countries that have no more than 75 cases per 100,000 (link).
