The 83-km-long lines brought the length of the city s metro system to 215 km, said Han Rimei, general manager of the construction subsidiary of Xi an Rail Transit Group. With the newly-opened Line 5, Line 6 and Line 9, it is estimated that the city s metro system will carry an average of 3.5 million passengers per day, accounting for half of the people using public transport.
