James Ray Foster III, 25 of Charles City, pleaded guilty to one count of lascivious act with a child. He was arrested in September for allegedly abusing a child under the age of nine. Foster has been given five years of probation and ordered to have no contact with any minors. He must also sign up with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry and pay a civil penalty of $250. Associated Press DES MOINES An Arizona man who threatened to shoot Iowa lawmakers over his frustration with a failed attempt to change Iowa’s sex offender registry law has been sentenced to five years in prison. Cody Leveke, also identified as Cody Meyers in court records, was sentenced in federal court Friday in Des Moines, the Des Moines Register reported. Leveke was arrested in December 2019 and convicted by a jury in September of interstate communication of a threat. He sent emails to state Sen. Herman Quirmbach, D-Ames, saying he was “angry enough to pull a mass shooting down at the State House,” and that the Second Amendment exists “so we can kill politicians” who don’t follow the law, prosecutors said.

Carroll Man Charged With Lascivious Acts With A Child Granted Deferred Judgement

A Carroll man accused of soliciting a juvenile to engage in sexual activity was sentenced yesterday (Tuesday) in District Court for Carroll County. According to court records, 19-year-old Calvin Keith Kienast was charged in March 2020 with two counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class C felony. As part of a plea agreement reached in September, the charges were amended to a single count of lascivious acts with a child, a class D felony. Kienast was arrested in February 2020 following a Carroll Police Department investigation that found he had sexual contact with a then 13-year-old female victim in June of 2019. Kienast’s sentence was handed down Tuesday. He was granted a deferred judgement and placed on probation with the Department of Correctional Services for a term not to exceed five years. Kienast is also required to file with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry within five days of the order. Included in the sentencing are more than $1,100 in fines, surcharges and court costs and
