Investigators find Urbana man shot his wife and then killed himself
Investigators have deterined a New Year’s Day double-shooting in the eastern Iowa town of Urbana was a murder-suicide.
According to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Urbana police received a 911 call from 59-year-old Garry Jensen stating that he had shot and killed his wife. Officers who responded to the Main Street home Friday found the body of 54-year-old Margaret Jensen. They also discovered the body of Garry Jensen.
Both died of apparent gunshot wounds. The DCI says autopsies conducted by the State Medical Examiner confirmed that the cause of Margaret Jensen’s death was a homicide. Garry Jensen’s death was ruled a suicide.

Three law enforcement agencies are investigating after a man was found dead Saturday at a rural Vinton home.
Around 9 a.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a welfare check at the man’s home in the 5900 block of 28th Avenue, according to a news release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
Deputies found the body of 84-year-old James Howard Bright. Bright’s death is being investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
The release stated that “at this time, it is believed there is no threat to public safety.”

(Vinton, IA) - The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the death of a Vinton man, who was found this weekend.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says deputies with the Benton County Sheriff s Office responded to a house in rural Vinton to a request for a welfare check Saturday morning around 9 a.m.
They say when they arrived they found the dead body of a man, identified as 84-year-old James Howard Bright.
The Iowa State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
The IDPS says they don t believe there is any threat to the public.

VINTON, Iowa (AP) Authorities are investigating the death of an 84-year-old man in a small eastern Iowa town.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety said James Howard Bright was found dead Saturday morning inside his home in Vinton, Iowa, after the sheriff’s department was called to check on him. Vinton is a town of about 5,000 people that is located about 30 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids.
Authorities did not release any details about the circumstances of Bright’s death, but they said it is being investigated by the Benton County Sheriff’s Department, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa State Patrol. No arrests have been announced.
