IEDA Grant To Help Create Solutions For Wastewater Plants

December 30, 2020 Iowa City, Iowa The Iowa Economic Development Authority Board has approved a grant for a new center at the University of Iowa. Economic Development Authority spokesperson, Kannen Kappleman, says the grant is around two-point-nine million dollars for the Iowa Wastewater and Waste-to-Energy Research Program Innovation Center. (As above) “The University will receive the funding over the course of five years for the instrumentation and equipment needed to build the facility, which will support critical fee-for-service analyses unavailable in Iowa to support local wastewater and waste-to-energy stakeholders,” Kappleman says. She says the money comes from the IEDA’s strategic infrastructure program.

Economic Development Authority spokesperson, Kanan Kappelman, says Simmons Pet Food plan to bring some of its operations to eastern Iowa. “The company plans to increase its wet pet food production capacity with the purchase of an existing facility in Dubuque,” Kappelman says. She says it the largest co-manufacturer and private label pet food maker in North America and this would be its first plant in Iowa.
