Janae Pierre Janae Pierre as the station’s new local host of the NPR weekday afternoon news program All Things Considered. She also hosts WWNO’s weekly news and culture program All Things New Orleans. Pierre is a native of New Orleans and a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She has worked and volunteered with several different media organizations, notably the New Orleans Tribune and local radio station WBOK 1230 AM, where she began as a college intern. For the last five years she has been a popular WBOK drive-time on-air host and community events director. She is the recipient of the 2015 Sophie Aramburo Servant/Leader Award, and was named Producer of the Year by eXposed Magazine in 2014.

The bank s University Scholarship Program provides $5 million to ASU, as well as Florida A&M University, Tulane University and Xavier University of Louisiana, beginning this fall. The program will fund 25 four-year, full-ride scholarships in total, across the four universities, in addition to creating paid summer internships for students that include housing costs at one of the bank s locations while they attend college, the company said.

Bill Cassidy, announced May 13 Southern University and Xavier University will receive over $4.4 million combined in grant funding, in support of both universities’ Center of Excellence. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture is awarding Southern University a $1,680,000 grant to establish the Center of Excellence for Nutrition, Health, Wellness, and Quality of Life to address diet related health disparities in African Americans.
