The TikTok Future Health Heroes Fund selected 10 universities to each receive $1 million to help ensure students from underrepresented communities have access to more educational opportunities.

The other organizations that received donations from Scott include food banks, emergency relief funds, debt relief, employment training, credit and financial services for under-resourced communities, education for historically marginalized and underserved people, civil rights advocacy, and legal defense funds that take on institutional discrimination, according to her Medium post. Virginia State was chosen out of over 6,000 organizations that Scott considered for donation, according to the Medium post. The gift comes, with full trust and no strings attached, Scott wrote. We shared each of our gift decisions with program leaders for the first time over the phone, and welcomed them to spend the funding on whatever they believe best serves their efforts, Scott wrote in the Medium post.  They were told that the entire commitment would be paid upfront and left unrestricted in order to provide them with maximum flexibility.
