Minister Catherine Martin welcomes the reopening of Ireland’s National Cultural Institutions   Catherine Martin TD, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, has welcomed the reopening today of Ireland’s National Cultural Institutions, along with galleries, museums and libraries across the country. Many of these cultural attractions welcomed their first visitors back this morning following several months of closure due to COVID-19 public health measures. LGBT movements have done it, some racial groups have done it. Now, it seems, it’s the turn of old women. A new arts collective, made up of eight female artists based in Ireland with a combined professional practice of over 550 years, has adopted the name Na Cailleacha: the Irish word for hags or witches.
