Facebook Ireland launches drive to report hate speech

News Correspondent The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar has met a group representing workers who moderate content for Facebook, but who are not directly employed by the company. The workers raised a number of issues, including safety concerns and working from home. Mr Varadkar said the internet content moderators perform  really important work to protect us all  and that he will be following up on some of the issues they mentioned. It is believed this is the first such meeting in any country between serving content moderators and a government minister. Speaking after the meeting, one of the moderators, Ibrahim Halawa, said the workers had raised their concerns about their safety in the workplace and their need for health care, including mental health care.
