The report „ Study on Gas market upgrading and modernisation – Regulatory framework for LNG terminals ” prepared in early 2020 by the consortium of Trinomics, Enquidity and REKK identifies and elaborates existing barriers and gaps that could be addressed in order to ensure optimal use of existing LNG terminals in the EU. One of the barriers identified with the highest potential impacts on inter-and/or intra-terminal competition was the method of terminal capacity allocation and limited flexibility and variety of products and services.

The EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER) publish today a White Paper with recommendations on how to regulate Power-to-Gas facilities in the context of a European Integrated Energy System, which is fundamental to implementing successfully the European Green Deal. Power-to-Gas consists of transforming electricity into renewable gases , and thus contributing to optimise the energy system as a whole with renewables.
This paper is the second in a new series of ACER/CEER European Green Deal Regulatory White Papers following the publication of the pure hydrogen networks paper earlier this week.
