LENA is set to be a star of Christmas telly TEN-YEAR-OLD Lena from the Isle of Harris in the Western Isles knows exactly what she wants for her future – to work with her beloved sheep, learn from her father and older crofters, and continue the traditional way of life that she has been brought up with. Now she is to be the focus of a television programme – Lena – An Croitear Òg (Lena – the Young Crofter) – produced by Stornoway-based independent MacTV, is their first film in a scheme overseen by the European Broadcasting Union. Each year, the EBU supports the production of short documentaries for children in countries across the world.
