Maneskin lead singer Damiano David returned home Sunday to the adulation of fans that was marred by speculation about the on-air moment that he had already denied in a press conference following the finale of the show. He was so ready to put the rumors to bed that he agreed to take a drug test to prove that he does not use.

Italy s Eurovision rockstar winner did not take drugs -organisers

The lead singer of Italy s glam rock band Maneskin, which won this year s Eurovision song contest, has passed a drugs test proving he did not take drugs at the weekend event, the organisers said on Monday. The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said it had conducted a thorough review of what happened on Saturday after some viewers thought footage showed Damiano David snorting cocaine as he waited for the winner to be announced.

Damiano David, frontman for the Italian glam-rock band Måneskin, which won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, was cleared of any wrongdoing after speculation arose that he’d been caught snorting cocaine during the show,
In a clip, David is sitting at a table with his Måneskin bandmates in the green room. David leans over the table, but after a bandmate to his right appears to nudge him, David pops back up. A Swedish journalist later asked David about the clip, which quickly spread online, and the rumors that he’d been using cocaine; David said he’d been bending down because one of his bandmates had broken a glass.

Damiano David, the flamboyant singer of Italy s Eurovision-winning rockers Maneskin, has tested negative for drugs, contest organisers said on Monday.
The red lederhosen-clad vocalist was tested after footage of him leaning over a table in the hospitality area of the competition in Rotterdam went viral.
Eurovision, the annual televised pop music extravaganza watched by
millions each year, is put together by the European Broadcasting Union.
The union, in Geneva, said that after claims of drug use backstage, it
reviewed the facts, including checking all available footage.
