Amsterdam is where the ESC heart is for 2023
The European Society of Cardiology Congress, ESC, is coming to Amsterdam in 2023. The 2021 Congress, like in 2020, will be a digital event in August. Before the pandemic, this congress attracted around 30,000 participants, including cardiologists from 140 countries.
There will also be an option in 2023 for participants to choose to follow the conference digitally.
RAI Amsterdam says it is delighted to host ESC again in 2023 after 10 years. Maurits van der Sluis, COO RAI Amsterdam, said: “Our portfolio consists largely of national and international events that strengthen the top sectors in the Netherlands. ESC is one of these events, where innovation and the sharing of knowledge in the field of Life Sciences and Health are key. We are very aware of the impact of Europe’s largest medical conference and are committed to making the ESC Congress 2023 a success.”

Low-dose colchicine reduces not only MACE but also MI, stroke, and the need for coronary revascularization among patients with known CAD, according to a new meta-analysis that sought to better tease out the anti-inflammatory’s protective effects.

Altogether, the studies capture the evolving body of evidence that increasingly supports the inflammatory hypothesis in cardiovascular disease.
A strength of the meta-analysis is that “we aligned all the endpoints from the various papers, because each paper has its own endpoints, its own definitions,” said Jan H. Cornel, MD (Northwest Clinics, Alkmaar, and Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen, the Netherlands), one of the

Vigorous Exercise Brings Additional Health Benefits
Even short bursts of exercise can boost metabolism, counteract risk of sedentary lifestyle
There are lifestyle choices you make each day that are foundational to your overall health and wellness. Exercise is one of those choices. Data from two recent studies showed even short bursts of exercise can affect your metabolism, and vigorous exercise could reduce your risk of all-cause mortality.
Our ancestors naturally stayed fit as they engaged in physical labor each day. However, as society moved through the industrial revolution and into the current digital revolution, fewer people find time to move and exercise. That’s unfortunate because including movement throughout the day helps protect your physical and mental health.
