17-12-2020 Nik Neubauer WHO/Europe and the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) announce an open call for research papers on nutritional care for COVID-19 patients – a topic which urgently needs more scientific evidence. The papers will be hosted in two ESPEN clinical journals. COVID-19 and nutrition: strengthening the evidence The COVID-19 pandemic has posed huge impacts to health care, and social and economic impacts, worldwide during the past few months. Clinical outcomes are poorer in several patient groups at risk for malnutrition. Persons with obesity are also at higher clinical risk. Nutritional care is therefore of utmost relevance for all COVID-19 patients and may also play an important role in disease prevention.
