Kiwa and Alliander open Dutch hydrogen demo house Kiwa and Dutch energy network company Alliander have opened the nation’s first hydrogen demo house in Apeldoorn today (May 27) named the ‘Hydrogen Experience Centre’. The demo house is being utilised as a demonstration and training location set up as a private home where professionals learn how to convert the natural gas supply in residential areas for hydrogen application. In this centre, Kiwa and Alliander will demonstrate that hydrogen can be used efficiently as a fuel in a built environment. At the same time, the centre is intended to train technicians and installers to help them familiarise them with the natural gas to hydrogen transition with this necessary as the need for technicians who can work with hydrogen will increase in the future.

More hydrogen bus deployments planned for Frankfurt, Germany Thirteen brand-new hydrogen-powered Solaris buses are set to hit the roads of Frankfurt. The European bus and trolleybus manufacturer today (4 th May) said it has won a tender call for the delivery of the Urbino 12 buses that are to be deployed on target routes next year (2022). Such call was made by In-der-City-Bus which is in charge of public transport in Frankfurt. Introduced in 2019, the Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen bus is capable of travelling 350 kilometres on a single hydrogen refuelling. The bus incorporates an axle with two electric motors and is equipped with a climate control system utilising heat generated by the fuel cell module.

EH Group expands fuel cell production capabilities in Switzerland Marking a major move for the company, the new space offers nearly 500m 2 of curated lab space, with dedicated hydrogen supply, multiple fuel cell testing stations of up to 250kW, rapid prototyping, and production capabilities. “As we rapidly scale up our activities, it became increasingly important to secure best-in-class facilities into which we could expand,” said Mardit Matian, Founder of EH Group. “They had never been occupied, and could thus be customised for our specific requirements, particularly with regards to hydrogen supply and testing facilities. “With room to deploy our fully automated production process, and an ecosystem of leading hi-tech companies nearby, this move will serve to grow the team and accelerate our fuel cell deployment capabilities.”
