Describing the EU DisinfoLab’s revelations as “enormously” damaging, a European Union-based human rights activist Andy Vermaut on Sunday called for a lawsuit against the Indian government to avert recurrence of fake news propaganda.
“This should have consequences for Indian government that has the final responsibility. The Indian government should be held accountable for this in the court,” Andy Vermaut, who is an official member of the International Alliance for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms (AIDL) constituted by the United Nations, said.

A European Union-based human rights activist, Andy Vermaut, on Sunday described the EU DisinfoLab’s revelations about an Indian network involved in a fake news campaign as “enormously damaging” and has called for the institution of a lawsuit against the Indian government to thwart the recurrence of such propaganda.
Vermaut, an official member of the International Alliance for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms (AIDL), an NGO with the participatory status to the United Nations ECOSOC committee, said, “This should have consequences for the Indian government that has the final responsibility. The Indian government should be held accountable for this in the court”.

Andy Vermaut says penalties needed to curb similar campaigns from occurring in future
A European Union-based human rights activist on Sunday called for accountability of the Indian government in light of the EU DisinfoLab’s revelations about an Indian network operating a massive fake news campaign, saying this would help prevent a reoccurrence of similar propaganda.
“This should have consequences for the Indian government that has the final responsibility,” Andy Vermaut told the Islamabad Policy Research Institute. “The Indian government should be held accountable for this in the court,” said Vermaut, who is an official member of NGO International Alliance for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms, which has participatory status to the United Nations ECOSOC committee.

“This should have consequences for Indian government that has the final responsibility. The Indian government should be held accountable for this in the court,” Andy Vermaut said who is an official member of “The International Alliance for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms (AIDL) constituted by the United Nations (ECOSOC).
In an interview with Islamabad Policy Research Institute, he urged all the victim parties to sit down together for legal proceedings against India for its “enormous” damage to Pakistan, China, European Union the United Nations as well as the minorities living in India who were already suffering due to Indian policies.
