News Raising awareness of young people in relation to discrimination and hate speech in the Republic of Moldova
The MilleniuM Training and Development Institute is implementing until July 2021 a national project in the Republic of Moldova raising awareness of young people in relation to discrimination and hate speech, with the support of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme Partnership for Good Governance, and its regional project “Strengthening access to justice for victims of discrimination, hate speech and hate crimes in the Eastern Partnership”.

More than 20 lawyers attended the cascade training on freedom of expression and freedom of the media, organised by the joint EU and Council of Europe JUFREX action in partnership with the Bar Association of North Macedonia.
The training particularly focused on the hate speech and defamation and how are they treated by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg in comparison to the Beneficiary-specific legislation. The international expert from the Council of Europe presented the European standards in these fields and the case-law of the ECtHR, putting an emphasis on the importance of ensuring protection under Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights that regulates the right to freedom of expression.

50 Serbian trainee judges and prosecutors attended the online launch of the Council of Europe HELP online course on anti-discrimination, organised in cooperation with the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia.
Nenad Vujic, Director of the Judicial Academy, welcomed participants by recalling the importance of the course for future generation of judges and prosecutors. The Council of Europe HELP online course is included as a compulsory training in the annual programme for the 10th generation of trainees.
