EU, Spain provide €19.5 million in support to payment of social allowances by the PA
JERUSALEM, Wednesday, December 23, 2020 (WAFA) - The European Union and Spain provided €19.5 million for a third annual payment of social allowances through the National Cash Transfer Programme benefitting 115,000 vulnerable Palestinian family.
The Office of the European Union Representative in Jerusalem said in a press release that the EU supports the Palestinian Authority s (PA) Ministry of Social Development (MoSD), which is responsible for the provision of basic social protection to the most vulnerable families in the West Bank and Gaza through its Cash Transfer Programme (CTP). For this payment, the European Union has almost doubled its usual financial contribution providing €18.5 million, while Spain allocated its annual contribution of EUR 1 million.

JERUSALEM, Tuesday, December 22, 2020 (WAFA) - The European Union (EU) has signed an additional contribution of EUR 4.6 million to the 2020 Programme Budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) to help address the needs of Palestine refugees during the COVID-19 pandemic through its health and relief programmes, today said UNRWA in a press release.
The announcement was made during a virtual meeting on 11 November between UNRWA Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, and the EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi. This contribution comes in addition to the disbursement earlier this year of EUR 82 million to the UNRWA Programme Budget.
